A replacement for PS5 has passed today as Sony’s PlayStation Direct for those receiving exclusive access. It seems like a lot of people got this email as it ran out on consoles before the store was open to the public. Walmart had it too its own replacement Thursday evening, but it was a small one that didn’t last long. Because replacements rarely occur on the weekend, we’ll be looking for more consoles next week. Best Buy and Amazon are two retailers that have not had replenishment that we have been watching for a long time.
Recently, PlayStation Direct invitations came out recently, so to make sure you’re eligible, make sure you’ve opted in to all promotional emails in your PlayStation account settings. Once you have it, you’ll want to keep an eye on your email every day, including spam or promotion folders. Aside from PlayStation Direct, we’re also looking at Best Buy and Amazon, as these stores haven’t downloaded PS5 yet this month.
Want to get a PS5? We’ve been tracking all the places where both are soldfor months, helping thousands of people take the console with them when it shows up. If you’ve had trouble finding one, this article provides helpful tips for getting to the box and how to keep track of when the next batch of PS5 will be available for purchase.
Why is it so hard to find the PS5?
There are three big reasons why you are still struggling to get a PS5. The first is the most obvious: the system is really popular. Sony says the PS5 is its best-selling console and has already sold 10 million units since its launch.
The second reason is the current shortage of chips that affects most of the world’s electronics. Sony said it has gotten enough chips to reach its goal of 14.8 million consoles for the fiscal year.
As for the last reason, these are bots. Resellers use software to buy a large number of PS5s at a time, leaving only a few for real humans. Retailers added several protections against the robots during PS5 replacements, but these restrictions only make resellers so difficult.
Where has the PS5 been available lately?

How do I get a PlayStation Direct PS5?
The store with the most frequent PS5 replacements is Sony’s official store, PlayStation Direct. Falls usually occur at 14:00 PT (17:00 ET) during the middle of the week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday). What Sony has been doing lately is making some sorts of email invitations to access the store exclusively, which usually starts at 12 pm PT (3 pm ET).
To get one of these special invitations, not only do you need luck, you also need a PSN account. You can register one on the PSN website and it’s free. As you sign up, be sure to accept Sony marketing emails. From here, it’s all about having patience and having a little luck by your side. Priority access emails appear to be sent randomly, but you’ll need to participate in one of the PlayStation Direct queues in order to keep track of them.
The PlayStation Direct PS5 replacement works a little differently from the rest of the retailers. At startup, there is a welcome page with a countdown clock that indicates when the queue will begin. You can stay on this page, and when time runs out, the website will start placing people in line to buy a PS5. The page will refresh and indicate how long you will have to wait, but it is not a guarantee. To help with your chances, once you’re in line, share the link with other devices, such as your phone. Make sure each device uses a different IP address (such as having your phone on your mobile plan while your computer is using your home Wi-Fi network). This can improve your chances, as the other device can be placed on a different line that moves at a faster pace. Even if you don’t get a PS5, as mentioned above, you could still get a pass to buy one at the next turn.
What are some helpful tips for buying a PS5?
Major retailers such as Walmart, GameStop, Amazon, Target and Best Buy do not usually notify long before replenishment. Sometimes they will rest in the morning, others in the afternoon, and in some cases even at midnight. Here are some tips to help you jump into the competition.
Tip One: Don’t wait until you see a PS5 inventory drop alert. Check out links from major retailers for stock updates daily or even several times a day. (Below we have them lined up.) If you have any PS5 availability, go all-in with as many browsers and devices as possible. On a computer, for example, open the reseller page in Chrome, Firefox, and Edge. Then do the same on your phone and tablet. The more devices and browsers, the better. It’s like with lottery tickets: the more you have, the better your chances of winning.
Second tip: Create accounts with different retailers and make sure you’ve already logged in if you want to get a PS5. Make sure all shipping, invoice, and payment information is up-to-date on any device from which you can purchase, be it a laptop, a desktop computer, or a telephone. This makes the query much faster, which is crucial as retailers ’sites are sinking rapidly, causing people to miss out on the chances of securing a PS5.

How can I get early access to a PS5 replacement?
It has been said before that one of the best ways to make sure your console is ready to buy right away is to make sure you have an account set up and that you are logged in, but there is another way to skip the row a bit. While most retailers want it to show up when something is marked in stock, the difficulty of getting a PS5 has encouraged GameStop to offer early access to sales from its paid members.
If you want to increase your chances of getting a GameStop PS5, just sign up for the PowerUp Rewards Pro program. This is a subscription program that GameStop has had for years and uses this program to offer discounts and coupon codes, as well as a subscription to Game Informer magazine.
This program costs $ 20 a year, and if GameStop keeps its promises, people who are part of this program will be able to get a PS5 before it is available to everyone on the website.
Where else can I buy a PS5 if I am willing to pay more?
If you are starting to break down now and are considering buying a PS5 (and we know that with the amount of major PS5 games about to drop over the next few months, the pressure is on), you can do it, but at a cost of strong branding on sites like eBay or StockX. On eBay, for example, we’ve seen PS5 units priced above $ 1,000, though prices have slowly come down to about $ 700.

If you’ve decided you just can’t wait for another moment for Sony to take action and flood the market with inventory, eBay is a shortcut to getting your own PS5 right now. That said, let me reiterate our advice: no PS5 is worth spending hundreds on list price, and that’s exactly what you’ll need to do if you’re buying from an eBay dealer. The average price of PS5 on eBay is about $ 850.
Okay, you’ve exhausted all the online and commercial retailers and you’ve decided you’re willing to pay more than $ 300 to get that puppy soon. As your friends, we need to tell you: Do not do it. But if you don’t want to hear from us, you may want to check out StockX, an eBay alternative that made a name for itself in the secondary market for sneakers and designer clothing. The last time we checked it out, prices for the PS5 were around $ 700.
